Pakistan, U.S. strategic talks to begin in November in Islamabad

четверг, 19 октября 2006 04:02:04

The second round of broad based Pak-U.S. strategic talks will be held in Islamabad on Nov. 6, the website of local newspaper The News reported Wednesday.

The two-day meeting will be co-chaired by Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Riaz Mohammad Khan and United States Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns.

The inaugural meeting of the strategic talks was held in Washington in April this year.

U.S. Under-Secretary Nicholas Burns will be leading a team of senior officials including Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Richard Boucher.

This will be the first high-level contact between the two countries after Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf's meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush in Washington last month.
