Robinson banned for one year by NFL
The National Football League (NFL) suspended Green Bay Packers receiver Koren Robinson for a minimum of one year Tuesday for drunken driving while two other players were given four-game suspensions.
Hours after Robinson pleaded innocent to charges of drunken driving and fleeing police after an August high-speed chase, he was told that he would be suspended without pay for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to reports from New York.
As a repeat offender, Robinson will be ineligible to apply for reinstatement to the league until next September 18.
Robinson was suspended for four games in 2004 while with Seattle for a drug policy violation. Under the NFL labor agreement, details on substance abuse bans are not made public.
Also Tuesday, Atlanta Falcons' guard Matt Lehr was suspended four games for violating NFL policy on anabolic steroids and similar substances and Detroit defensive tackle Shaun Rogers was banned four games for a positive test for a banned substance.
