Intel Corp., the world's biggest computer chipmaker, on Tuesday reported a 35 percent decline in third-quarter profits.
Net income for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was 1.3 billion U.S. dollars, or 22 cents a share, compared with 2 billion dollars, or 32 cents, in the same period last year.
Revenues fell 12 percent from a year ago to 8.7 billion dollars.
"We're pleased with the results of the third quarter, with record mobile and server processor shipments, strong manufacturing execution, industry acclaim for our new products, and quad-core processors now extending our leadership this quarter," said Intel president and chief executive Paul Otellini.
"Pricing remained competitive, notably in the desktop segment," said the company.
