Tuesday's match between Steaua Bucharest and Real Madrid, within the Champions League's Group E, is considered to be the most important sport event in recent years in the country.
The match will benefit from unprecedented security measures and media exposure. Over 1,300 gendarmes will make sure that no incident occurs, while 100 anti-terrorism fighters guard the stars non-stop.
The match will be broadcast all over the world, with no less than 46 televisions interested in the match live or recording it. The audience is estimated at around 150 million viewers. 15 cameras will assure that nothing happening on the field is missed, eight of them being able to offer different angles replays.
Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello told a press conference on Monday that Steaua is a dangerous team, especially on counterattack and in free kicks.
"I have seen the matches with Dynamo Kiev and Olympique Lyon. Before the goal in the match with Lyon, I have seen a well-organized team. They are dangerous on counterattack and in free kicks," Capello mentioned.
The Italian coach thinks that the matches with Steaua and FC Barcelona (to be played on Sunday) have an equal significance.
After the last match played in the Spanish championship against Getafe, which Real Madrid lost 1-0, coach Capello admitted that his players were terrible; however that match must be forgotten because Steaua is next.
"We all talked on Sunday about the defeat with Getafe. We have problems and we will solve them by ourselves. The truth is we played poorly in Getafe. We have to admit it. We will try to put an end to this bad situation in Bucharest. This is not the Madrid I really want. But I will change things, just the way I did with each team I coached," said the coach of Real Madrid, adding that Real's problems in the defence compartment have been solved, as Sergio Ramos and Fabio Cannavaro have been recuperated.
Steaua coach Cosmin Olaroiu stated on Monday that the Steaua-Real Madrid match represents a big chance for Romanian football.
"I don't know if this is a historic moment, it is an important moment and a big chance for us and we will do everything possible to win this match. I think it is a very big chance for the entire Romanian football and we are prepared to do our best," Olaroiu stated.
The Steaua coach thinks Real Madrid is still one of the most powerful teams in the world.
"It is obvious that they had some problems in switching from their previous playing manner to what they are currently asked, but they are a strong team, especially through their individual players. The match with Lyon should show us the way in which we should approach this type of game, I hope we learnt something and we play as we should do it each time. I hope it will be a nice match for the audience," Olaroiu said.
He claims it is very important for Steaua to succeed in blocking Real players.
