Thai Cabinet Tuesday lifted the ban on political gathering of more than five people, Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said.

Surayud told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that the Cabinet resolved to amend the announcement No. 7 of the coup makers, which banned gathering of more than five people.

Surayud said the amendment was aimed to allow public participation in politics but the gathering must not be carried out in public places.
