Giving assistance to Africa is expected to be one of the main topics at the G8 Group summit next year in Germany, said a German newspaper on Monday quoting a confidential program document.
The document for the German cabinet said that each of the developed countries participating in the summit would be asked to assist a certain African nation, the daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported.
Those African nations that are willing to carry out reforms should be especially supported, it said.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who will host the summit mid-June in the Baltic coastal resort city Heiligendamm, is set to further advance an action program for Africa that was decided at the G8 summit last year in Gleneagles, Scotland, the newspaper said.
She also intended to invite African leaders to Germany for a special summit along with the leaders of the G8 Group -- Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Japan, the United States and Canada, the paper said.
