Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated on Tuesday that the clear Arab stance for peace is a strategic option for settlement of Arab-Israeli conflicts, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The minister, Sheikh Mohammad Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah, made the remarks before leaving for Cairo to attend the meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and eight foreign ministers from Egypt, Jordan, and six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
He said that this meeting was preceded by the speech delivered by U.S. President George W. Bush, in which he stated his vision for the establishment of Palestinian and Israeli states that co- existed in peace before his term in the White House ended.
"This means that we have a short time in which to realize this vision, and President Bush has assigned Secretary Rice with this issue and to reactivate the peace process to this effect," he was quoted by KUNA as saying.
The foreign minister held Israel most responsible for the halt of Middle East peace process, saying that it's Israeli policies that destroyed the peace process.
"We are of the opinion that the other side (Israel) does not believe in the peace process and this is evident through its confiscation of the right of Palestinians to establish a state and their right to existence and to decent honorable life," he said.
