India will soon float tenders to buy 126 multi-role aircraft to equip the armed forces, said Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday.
Mukherjee was quoted by Indo-Asian News Service at a meeting in Kolkata, capital of east Indian state West Bengal, as saying that the new aircraft will arm the air force with latest technologies.
The government had earmarked 890 billion rupees (19.35 billion U.S. dollars) for defense procurement this year, he said.
But the news did not release the details of aircraft purchase.
