Monthly car sales in Indonesia saw a 21.2 percent surge in September from the preceding month, but it doesn't significantly narrow gap with the cumulative sales in the first nine months last year.
September sales rose to 34,018 units against 28,066 units in August, with Toyota leading the market with 13,385 units.
But sales in nine months to September plunged 46.9 percent to 233,696 units, year-on-year, leading economic newspaper Bisnis Indonesia reported Monday.
Mitsubishi, whose Indonesian strategy focuses on commercial vehicles, ranked second with 5,794 units in September, trailed by Suzuki with 5,303 units, Daihatsu with 3,283 units, Honda with 2, 355 units and Isuzu with 1,602 units.
