A U.S. marine died of wounds which sustained during military action in western Iraq, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
"One Marine, assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5, died on Oct. 14 from injuries sustained due to enemy action while operating in Al-Anbar Province," the military said in a statement.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
About 2,750 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U. S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count.
