Top seed Davydenko beats Mirnyi to reach last four at Kremlin Cup

Top seed Nikolay Davydenko beat Max Mirnyi of Belarus 6-3, 7-5 to reach the semifinals of the Kremlin Cup here on Friday.

Davydenko will take on Fabrice Santoro after the Frenchman after defeating Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 7-5.

In the women's matches, U.S. Open champion Maria Sharapova was forced to pull out of her quarter-final with a foot injury.

Former world number one Marat Safin of Russia will meet Serbian Janko Tipsarevic in the quarter-finals later while Igor Kunitsyn plays Arnaud Clement.

Anna Chakvetadze moved into the semi-finals without hitting a ball when Sharapova withdrew injured.

Nadia Petrova reached the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Vera Zvonareva.
